As a newborn and family photographer, January is always my favourite month to dream a bit about the year ahead – what styles will be trending, which colours will be in, and which setups will make those tiny, squishy babies look even more adorable than they already are (if that’s possible!). Whether you’re a fellow photographer, a parent planning a session, or just a lover of all things baby, there’s something here for everyone. TREND 1: Bold, Colourful Statements 2026 To View More >>

Let’s be honest - life moves far too fast. One day, your kids need your hand to take their first steps, and the next, they’re off and running, leaving you wondering where the time went. It’s a little unfair how quickly time flies, isn’t it? And if you’re anything like most busy parents, family portraits tend to fall to the bottom of the never-ending to-do list. But here’s the thing: keeping your family portraits up-to-date isn’t just about getting a cute picture for the wall (although that’s a definite bonus); it’s about preserving the To View More >>

Amanda was a little nervous when she arrived for her bump photoshoot, but as the session progressed and we got to know each other, she really relaxed and actually enjoyed the session, so much that she left me a little review on Facebook: "Had our maternity shoot with Jackie. Was nervous but Jackie made me feel really at ease and the pictures we received are lovely. Looking forward to newborn shoot once baby arrives. Thank you Jackie" I think you'll agree, she had nothing to worry about - she looks gorgeous! To View More >>

I am often asked 'How much space do you need for a newborn baby photo shoot?', and 'Do I need to clear a room?'. I can actually manage in quite a small space, around 3mx3m is sufficient (more is obviously nice, but this is quite workable). I know a lot of people can find this quite hard to visualise, so here is an example set up in my front room: Good light is crucial in deciding where we will set up. I like to make use of natural light wherever possible (I do have studio lights if no natural light is available, but these take up a bit more space, so if we can use window light that works best).
